Mowing The Yard Is Definitely A Tiring, Time Consuming Chore – But What If A Robot Could Do It For You?

If you own a house with a garden you know how exhausting, tiring and unpleasant mowing the yard can be. Even if you have a small garden, mowing it is still a chore you wish you didn’t have to complete. However, someone thought about it and decided to bring some technology into your backyard to take this task away from you.

Husqvarna’s latest high-end robotic lawn caretaker can cover up to 1.25 acres and is controlled by an app. It mows the lawn for you while you sit back and relax. Pretty cool, right?

HOW IT WORKS

First of all, you need to install it and teach it what areas to mow and what areas to avoid. To do so, you need to stake a perimeter with green wire. For obstacles such as rocks, sheds, fire pits and so on, you need to create no-mow zones by running the wire around each object. I know, it sounds like a lot of effort, but consider that you only do this once. Of course, an app that lets you map the boundaries using GPS coordinates would have been so much better, but maybe that’s a future upgrade.

As soon as you’re finished, you’ll need to adjust your map by creating some extra dead zones around ditches and depressions where the mower could get stuck. Make sure you don’t leave the boundary wire sticking up too far, as the robot can slice it. However, if this happens, the mower will stop and you’ll know where a repair is needed.

If your yard is small and even, you won’t need to add these extra dead zones.

Now that you’ve created the boundaries, it’s time to turn the app on and create a schedule. For example, you can create it to mow all day, every day as it cuts a small amount of grass over a long period, leading to a very well maintained lawn that will make your neighbors ask you a few questions. The results after a month of using the robot are fantastic! Fresh, healthy grass just like in the movies.
